EXPERIMENTS

I've been making a lot of experiments
to find the right combination of shapes
and fabric for the appliques for my Posies' Quilt.
That's why my work at the moment
is very slow, and of course because
hand sewing takes a lot of time.
But I really like this "slow sewing",
back to the roots thing.

Tenho feito muitas experiências com
formas e tecidos para encontrar
a combinação certa para o
meu lindo Posies' Quilt.
Por isso também que meu
trabalho está indo muito devagar.
Aliás, costurar a mão realmente
é muito "slow sewing" (costura lenta)
coisa de volta às origens.

I decided on the combination below.
Still have to finish it off with
a center button or something.

Me decidi pela combinação abaixo.
Ainda falta um acabamento
do botão central.

And here is a treat for you all cat lovers.
My sweet Pinky likes to play with teddy bears!
So sweet, so human like,
I'm constantly amazed!!!!

Momento ternura do dia:
Minha Pinky fofa gosta de brincar
com ursinhos de pelúcia!
Muito carinhoso, tão "humano"!
Não canso de me admirar!!!

Some more pouchies

Made some more pouchies.
They're so easy to make
that it's becoming a therapy.
Whenever I need immediate gratification,
I just sit and make some of these.

Fiz mais algumas bolsinhas.
Esse molde é realmente muito fácil.
Quando quero algo rápido
que me dê muita satisfação,
sento e faço alguns.

And look who's cold!!!!
Can you tell how cold our winter is?

E olhem isso.
Voces acham que Pinky está com frio?

THE REASON WHY MY WORK IS GOING SO SLOWLY

Well, the title says it all...

How can I possibly sew with such
a nosy companion
(hey... I'm not complaining... he he).

Pinky is really sweet and I absolutely love her company, but I haven't been able
to work at the same rate I was used to
before she got here.
But her loving and purring
totally compensate this...

However, I managed to make some
more butterflies for the Pom Pom lap quilt.

I decided to use it and just add things
(embroidery, appliques)
whenever I have time and feel like it.
No pressure! Is this heaven or what?

BUTTERFLIES

Whenever Pinky let's me
(yes, that's Tinkerbell's nickname),
which is not very often,
I try to get on with my work.

I've been trying to free motion
my lap quilt, but so far
it has been very difficult.

Problems with thread tension,
with wrinkling, and with design...

So parts of it I quilt on the machine,
others I do by hand,
and I'm even embroidering
and appliquing some
in an effort to make it easier,
but still attractive.

So far, these are my results:

TINKERBELL

Check out this new addition to our family:

Her name is SININHO,
which is the Brazilian name
for the Disney character Tinkerbell.
Isn't she the cutest?

She's three months old and
is battery operated (just kidding).
It's just that she is so
hyperactive that it is very hard
to take pics of her.
Do the photos give you any idea
of how small she is?
Yes, she is very tiny.

I adopted her from a NGO,
since she was abandoned
with 5 siblings at the
doorsteps of a pet shop.

Luckily good people do
some very humane work.
Sininho found herself
a loving and caring Mum.
