EXPERIMENTS

I've been making a lot of experiments

to find the right combination of shapes

and fabric for the appliques for my Posies' Quilt.

That's why my work at the moment

is very slow, and of course because

hand sewing takes a lot of time.

But I really like this "slow sewing",

back to the roots thing.

Tenho feito muitas experiências com

formas e tecidos para encontrar

a combinação certa para o

meu lindo Posies' Quilt.

Por isso também que meu

trabalho está indo muito devagar.

Aliás, costurar a mão realmente

é muito "slow sewing" (costura lenta)

coisa de volta às origens.

Still have to finish it off with

a center button or something.

Me decidi pela combinação abaixo.

Ainda falta um acabamento

do botão central.

BACKING

Finally ....
 I made the backing of my first quilt!
Can you believe it? A year later...

Finalmente, fiz o forro para o meu primeiro quilt.

Dá pra acreditar? Um ano depois...

(super clichê, eu sei, mas tão verdadeiro!)

And I have already shipped it to Dany for quilting.

Now I'm all expectations!!!

E já postei ele pra Dany pra quiltar.

Estou super ansiosa pra ver o resultado !!!

conditions to quilt it.

BUTTERFLIES QUILT

The butterflies' quilt is coming along.

I managed to cut all the squares.

Will be appliqueing more butterflies

and trimming it with a dark red border.

One more border to go!!!

YELLOW TABLE TOPPER

Winters in Sao Paulo are usually very mild.
Not too cold, not too humid, very little rain.

 

But the last two weeks have been pretty tough
(for Brazilian standards, that is).
It has rained pouringly non-stop
and the temperatures hovered around
the 10 degrees Celsius.

 

So I guess I needed some sunshine,
and bright yellows.

I receveid my fabrics from Quilthome (http://www.quilthome.com/)
and was so uplifted by the colors and
freshness of the print that I sat down
immediately to sew something.
I started with a small quilt for my coffee table

And will go on sewing some throw

pillows for the couch and two armchair protectors.

On the same day, the animal print
I ordered from Fatquartershop (www.fatquartershop.com), arrived too.

I still don’t know what kind of baby stuff
I will be making with them,
but tag blankies are definitely a must.

PLAY QUILT

Yesterday I finished this play quilt. Not very big, some 90x90 cm.

I figured it will be useful in many ways: it can be used as a crib quilt,

or as a baby wrap

or as a cozy play quilt that can be laid on the floor for baby to play safely and

germs free on any rug and still keep us company in the living room.
