MY PRIDE AND JOY I

This is my pride and joy.

A quilt I made based on

Laurie Bird's quilt published in

A Passion for Posies.

I adapted it to my liking,

like made the flowers differently,

and embroidered it as I went along

and as the inspiration came to me.

THE BEGINNING

NEW LEARNING

I took a course in finishes

and trimmings of quilts.

We worked on small pieces in class,

but the idea is to apply these techniques

to bigger pieces.

It was very useful and I notice now

that the quality of my quilts

scaled up to a finer level.

 Got a little help from my friend,

of course, he he (Pinky herself)

MY STUDIO

This is the normal state of my studio when
I'm creating and selecting fabrics and sewing.

I just can't discipline myself
to put away everything I'm not working with
at the moment.
I just keep on creating in a frenzy,
until I get the project right,
the way I imagined it.
But I guess this state of
chaotic display of fabrics and colors
actually help me go beyond
the first imagined work
and always adds to it.

LITTLE HOUSE BAG

My friend Tuca made this bag for a niece. We made the project together, sorted out the fabrics and felt and I even drew a little doggie that was stitched behind the door as a surprise!

She even made a little zippered pouchie to go with it.

I have been painting / Andei pintando

After a long time, finally settled in 

and set up my painting corner in my studio.

Now I have a lot of space.

Have been experimenting with softer colors ... 

and lots of pink!

Após um longo tempo, 

finalmente me ajeitei no novo apartamento

 e montei meu canto de pintura no atelier.

Agora tenho um bom espaço pra pintar.

Tenho feito experimentos com cores 

mais suaves e... muito pink!

JUST COULDN'T RESIST / NÃO RESISTI

I am absolutely in love with these colors!!!

All this pink, and yellow and orange... sooooo uplifting and inspiring!
As soon as the fabric came in from the www.fatquartershop.com, 
 had to see how it worked together.

I was inspired by Pantone's
color of the year Tangerine Tango,
only my collection
didn't turn out quite orangy!!

Don't even know what
I'm going to make with it,
but for the time being,

a doll quilt quenched my thirst

for these bright colors.

Estou completamente apaixonada por essas cores.

Todo esse pink, amarelo e laranja...

 tão pra cima e tão inspirador!

Assim que o tecido chegou da www.fatquartershop.com ,

 eu tinha que ver como esses tecidos ficavam juntos.

Me inspirei pela cor do ano da Pantone:

Tangerine Tango, só que minha coleção

não ficou muito laranja...

Nem sei o que vou fazer com eles,

mas no momento, um quilt pra boneca

deu conta da minha necessidade

de cores fortes!

Yet another market bag / Mais uma sacola

For a nice neighbour

Para uma vizinha muito gentil

Market bag / sacola de supermercado

I always forget to take a bag when

I go to the supermarket.

And I hate wasting those plastic bags

they give you to pack your groceries.

So this time I took some action.

I made a very simple bag,

lined it with a stiff batting.

Made handles out of twill tape

and now it hangs on the front door,

where I'm sure to see it

whenever I go to the market.

(I think it's called "going green", he he)

Sempre esqueço de levar uma sacola

pras compras de supermercado.

E detesto desperdiçar os sacos plásticos que eles dão

pra embrulhar as compras.

Então, desta vez resolvi fazer algo a respeito.

Costurei uma sacola super simples.

Usei uma entretela bem rígida e coloquei alças de cordão.

Está pendurada na porta de entrada.

Assim não dá pra esquecer, não é?

(acho que é isso que eles chamam de "tornar-se verde", rsrs)

It's been a long long time...

First I moved to another appartment. It took me a month to organize everything and to finally move.

I was barely living two weeks in the new appartmente, which, by the way is very cozy (and not yet finished of course, but liveable), when I had to undergo an urgent surgery. A month later and here I am, back to sewing, doing my crafts and enjoying everything again.

I did not craft a lot, but at this time I'm busy with some 40 party favors for a a cupcake specialty baker.

Faz muito muito tempo...

primeiro me mudei para um novo apartamento.

levei quase um mes organizando a mudança e me mudando.

não faziam nem duas semanas que estava morando no novo apê, quando fui operada de urgência...

agora que tudo já passou (menos a arrumação do apê), já estou curtindo tudo de novo.

não andei fazendo muita coisa relativa a costuras e tal, mas no momento estou confeccionando uns 40 brindes para uma confeiteira de mão cheia de cupcakes.
